Professionally installed insulation ensures less energy use in residential buildings and provides immediate, long-lasting benefits to consumers in the form of lower energy costs, improved building durability and more comfortable living environments. That is why the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code with Georgia State Supplements and Amendments includes minimum requirements for installation – as well as specific backing, blocking and air sealing details that protect insulation – so it can perform to its rater R-value.
This online module provides code officials and construction professionals with a brief overview of these code requirements and their benefits, and lays out key items to observe when inspecting residential insulation jobs for compliance with the framing, air sealing and installation requirements of the Georgia Code.
