Description
This course targets entry level solar installers. The Introduction to Solar PV module will provide excellent context for a solar installer as they approach and communicate with homeowners and building owners, understanding the thought process and considerations of a potential solar customer. The remaining three PV Installation 101 Modules (System Components and Installation, Equipment and Safety, and Code Compliance) will equip early-career solar professionals with all of the necessary knowledge and safety considerations to begin this new career.
Objectives
After completing the Introduction to Solar PV Module, users will be able to:
- Understand how solar PV works
- Understand PV system types, size, and cost
- Evaluate a contractor or solar PV provider
- Identify quality code compliant work
- Apply contractor communication best practices
After completing the Installation 101 Modules, users will be able to:
- Understand the different types of PV systems, the components that go into each one and how they function.
- Understand how to stay safe when working on a solar job site and how to properly handle and install the equipment.
- Understand important building codes and how to recognize violations of the codes when you are on the job.
