In this training, Southface experts Mike Barcik and Joey Starr explain the fundamentals of air movement in, out, and through a building. Topics include driving forces of air movement (wind, stack effect, and mechanical fans), as well as best practices and key points for air sealing.

This course consists of a video training, slide deck, and exam. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate of completion for CEUs from ICC, AIA, and BPI.

  • The full video has a runtime of 1 hour, 13 minutes.

  • The full slide deck is provided for free download in the Resources module

  • The exam consists of 10 multiple choice questions.


After successful completion of this training and exam, participants will be able to:

  • Identify driving forces of air movement
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the effects of air pressure on home energy efficiency
  • Define stack effect
  • Identify key points for air sealing throughout a typical residential building


By completing/passing this course, you will attain the certificate Southface Certificate of Completion C
